Lora - The creator and artistic director of the "Tango Heat" club, arrived in the UK as a child from
the exotic island of Jamaica and as a school and college student had studied various forms of dance
that included ballet, the Charleston and the can-can (And still found the time to win a "Blue Belt" for
the martial art of judo).
At an early age, Lora showed signs of her talent as an artist when her portrait "Dancing Girls" was
exhibited in the National gallery, London.
All grown up and it's time to go out to work, chosen profession, hairdresser. A great way to connect
with people while having an outlet for artistic expression. Working in London's West End, on her way
home from the salon, her dancers heart (And feet) were forced to make a little detour to Sylvester's
modern jazz class in Covent Garden's Pineapple dance studio, leg warmers 'n all.
As a hobby, in 1998 Lora discovered (what she believes to be) the ultimate dance form, the
TANGO, at the Latvian centre, overlooking Hyde Park, with Bianca and Miguel. After a few years
spent enjoying the role as a dutiful tango "follower". The grace, poise, confidence and beauty of the
(traditionally) male "leaders" drew her attention to this further aspect of tango dancing.
With the love and respect for both aspects of leading and following the tango, in 2005, Lora followed
her heart (And feet) and developed "SAME GENDER TANGO", for like minded men and women who
wanted to experience this role reversal in order to add a further dynamic to their tango dancing.
An Argentine tango salon for ladies that lead and fellas that follow - was created in 2005 by Lora
Hudson who believes that the atmosphere you are learning in is just as important as the subject you
are studying.
Arguably the most sensual dance in the world, men and women wanted to learn the tango in a more
inclusive atmosphere and the social etiquette of the tango salons did not cater for people that
wanted to enjoy same gender dancing (also known as Queer tango), although there were some
lessons on offer in a few locations, they seemed to not continue this theme to a tango social (Also
known as a milonga).
It was time to fill the demand for students to enjoy such a salon so after the lesson, in some locations,
Lora has a milonga. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal and every attempt is made to ensure
that EVERYONE gets the chance to dance.
With the added bonus of guest teachers that are the best in the business, guest DJ's and live tango
bands, they are also avid fund raisers for two very worthwhile charities, The Lupus Trust and The
Terrence Higgins Trust.

David - By day, is a teacher in a south London primary school and also has a
further 10 years experience teaching Taiji at an advanced level at his studio.
He began dancing 12 years ago as a "reluctant" taxi driver for his daughter and
became enchanted with the TANGO from the word go.
Learning from many international dancers, he visited Buenos Aries in 2007 to
study tango and tour the milongas.
Further using this experience as an assistant dance tutor at "Tango Heat" club
and "Same Gender Tango", his calm, centred and patient approach has allowed
students to enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, which is central to the ethos of this salon.

Cecylia Hinds - A south London yoga teacher of 20 years with a background in
gymnastics, caporiea, ice skating and tai chi maintains that, the essential
qualities of controlled breathing, creating spiritual awareness and inner
stillness are the cornerstone of good yoga practice.
An all inclusive, equal opportunity, safe activity that is non competitive, Cecylia
could not be a better ambassador for her chosen profession in yoga.
While letting her hair down on the salsa club scene, discovered TANGO and
hasn't look back.
Elegant and agreeable, she adds her quiet charm to the class as an assistant
tango dancer and gives the much needed friendly support and encouragement
to the students of "Tango Heat" club and "Same Gender Tango".
